Dealing with objections in your MLM prospecting efforts is a hard, and sometimes humiliating aspect of network marketing prospecting. In fact anyone who’s been prospecting for their network marketing business for any length of time knows that.
So what do you do when you get that objection from your prospect?
Well there are a couple of different strategies to handling your prospect’s objections.
The one thing that you MUST understand and remember is getting defensive and allowing your prospect’s objections to control the conversation will ALWAYS end in failure for you. Understand this:
You must always control the conversation with your prospect.
The moment you fail to portray authority while prospecting for your MLM is the moment you’ve lost your prospect altogether.
Remember, people follow leaders. Leaders dictate terms, not the other way around.
That being said, I want to share with you one of the most effective and powerful ways of prospecting for your MLM that will help you deal with your prospect’s objections:
Pattern Interrupt

First let’s start with some background.
When it comes to conversation or discussions, we as humans often pre-judge situations and formulate our response while the other is still talking.
Prospects do this all the time.
And so do you. Think about it. How often do you pre-judge a situation or topic and formulate your own opinion without ever really hearing the other side?
Well as I said, prospects are no different than you or I and they do it all the time.
Have you ever heard: “Oh, that’s a pyramid scheme” or “That’s a scam” before you even get a chance to fully tell your prospect about your network marketing business?
We all have. And it’s a classic example of your prospect formulating an opinion and “going on automatic” based on previously conceived opinions. Think about it, your prospect surely did not come up with any of those objections solely because of what you had said already.
No, they came up with that objection because that is what they had previously formulated as their opinion on Network Marketing — whether that was from friends, relatives, newspaper articles, or whatever.
The bottom line is that it interferes, or completely torpedoes, your prospecting efforts, so you must learn to identify it and re-direct your prospect, or you will continually struggle to build your MLM business.
So I’m about to teach you a very sneaky, yet VERY effective technique you can use right away in your MLM prospecting efforts that will help you deal with this fact of human behavior.
First, you must get your prospects to shift their focus back to YOU and stay on YOU.
Let me give you some examples of what is called “Pattern Interrupt” – interrupting the pattern of thought going on in your prospect’s mind.
PROSPECT FOR YOUR MLM: “Why should I join your company”
YOU: “You shouldn’t” [PAUSE] “At least not until you ask yourself some hard questions like….(for example: what are your goals, where do you see yourself in xx years, etc.)”
99% of Network Marketers would launch into how great their products are, or how wonderful their compensation plan is, or how great the billionaire is that owns the whole thing…but you aren’t!
You are saying something in your prospecting that takes your prospect off guard — you interrupt the pattern of thoughts in their head.
And at the same time, it allows you to start asking them questions and getting them to open up to you. Remember:
Getting your prospect to open up to you when you’re prospecting them is crucial.
Let’s do another example.
PROSPECT FOR YOUR MLM: “Is your company going to stick around?”
YOU: “I don’t know [prospect]. I mean it’s 10 years old, 1 Billion dollars strong, managed by some of the sharpest entrepreneurs in the world…I don’t know [prospect]…I guess it could?….well what do you think?
Don’t just go into how great your company is! You got the exact same information across — but without your prospect’s guard going up faster than a bottle rocket on the 4th of July. .
Using this method in your prospecting efforts, you will get past your prospect’s defenses….or even completely around them!
